There is much traffic disruption in these parts, caused by the current closure of the Forth Road Bridge for repairs. Until sometime in January (estimated), the only way to drive between Edinburgh and Fife is:
(1) do a 50 mile detour via Kincardine, or
(2) be an emergency vehicle, or
(3) be a train
(4) .....and perhaps there is another way...?

Hi Tony - I am very much looking forward to the 12 hour drive from Bath to Perth next week...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!
Should be a breeze, Ian - M74 to M8 to M9 to Stirling then to Perth. Mind you, my friend Jake the Lorry Driver said it was snowing at Crianlarich yesterday.
DeleteOh yes - and Merry Christmas to you too!
DeleteOh dear!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I am not an engineer (this is just one example of the many things which I am not), but on a recent crossing of the FRB I was once again impressed by the ridges in the road - driving across at the regulation 40mph is likely to loosen every dental filling in your head - very rough ride. It occurred to me that if 70,000 vehicles a day get such a hammering then it is no wonder the bloody bridge is cracked. I'm surprised it hasn't sunk a few metres into the seabed too.
DeleteAnyway, we're all DOOMED.
