Hooptedoodle #380 - Reasons to Be Cheerful?

Times are difficult, no doubt, but I think we have to hang on to what we can get in the way of better news. This last week or so has seen definite signs of the beginning of the ends of a few pestilences - early days, admittedly, but promising...

    1. Well, it isn't complete, of course, and #2 is of significance only to the UK, but these are my 3 personal biggies for this week.

  2. 😂

Actually #2 can be x2 as his vaguely similar looking buddy preceded him

    1. Yes, true - originally I was trying to find a decent photo of Nosferatu, but Gollum was a better likeness, I decided. This has reminded me that I may revisit my Werner Herzog box-set this evening - good.

  3. Took a few minutes to sink in Tony, I must admit, but now I see it I agree totally :) Number 2 is especially gratifying.

    1. Hi Lee - yes - I'm sure #2 will have a job lined up - if not, I can suggest some excellent work experience jobs he might take on. They all have a connection with shovels and excrement. His mates will be disappointed - there may be less plum roles heading up non-existent software projects and suchlike in future. Ach well. Hi always thrived on confrontation, so I hope he's enjoying the experience.

      May their bottoms fester.

    2. Is there a job going in the Barnard Castle tourist information?

    3. Hi Chris - could be. Nah - I'm sure he's going to be in big demand. Perhaps he could develop a plan for leaving the EU? Or applying to join again?

  4. The demise of the top two is very amusing and the bottom one the cherry on the cake top !

    1. Hi Tony - I admit it's cheap and unseemly to enjoy the downfall of others, but HAHAHAHAHAHAHA anyway! 😂

  5. The top two pictures are very amusing Tony...
But I think characters you have picked are far more interesting and have deeper personalities that the self centred individuals they are representing... 😂

    All the best. Aly

    1. You may well be right, Aly - not bad for a pair of harmless avotars, though...

No political import here, officer - I am a big fan of epic fantasy movies, what's the problem? If someone wishes to associate these images with real (more or less?) individuals, that suggests they have an agenda of some sort. Me, I'm just a thick Scouser, and don't understand these things.

  6. Far too clever and subtle for my simple brain, perhaps this really is the turning point ?

    1. The vaccine news is potentially fantastic, of course, though I'm sort of scared to take it too seriously. The two clowns represented by the top pictures - with luck - will move on to becoming legends that we can't believe ever really happened. I think Clown #1 has been a real deadly menace, #2 was just a loose cannon in a china shop (or something).

  7. Clown #1 appears to be determined to damage our country as much as he possibly can in the time he has remaining in office, while he petulantly refuses to accept the obvious fact of his having lost the election. Clown #2 I leave to you and your countrymen. The vaccine news is encouraging, but far from a done deal, and distributing a vaccine that has to be stored at -20 degrees F will be a real challenge! We have vaccine freezers in the office, but they cannot keep things at anything like that temperature!

    1. Accept all that - these are still the most positive bits of news I've heard for long enough, so I'll go with them. You'd better upgrade your vaccine freezers! - Jabba and I are going to invest heavily in the freezer industry on the back of this. If you are unfamiliar with the legacy of Dominic Cummings (#2) then somehow I am comforted that his fame hasn't reached those heights, but I fear he has helped screw us up over here for generations.

    2. Update... I hear on the radio this morning that the second vaccine (Janssen?) can be stored in a domestic fridge for 30 days. I'm holding off on buying these freezer shares until I find out more...

    1. As an old Magnet fan I can't help but feel this is a terrible calumny on William George. Although he was a duffer he was in the comics often, if inadvertently, the means by which the issue was resolved, whereas I doubt that our glorious leader could fix anything even by accident!

    2. I never saw your rotten trade agreement - it was no good anyway - hardly any cherries in it at all.
