Following the comments and discussion on my previous post, I liked the idea of interweaving a couple of the emerging threads (see what I did there?).

ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right - he was as sick as a parrot. I read somewhere that Rupert had far more military portraits than battles, and I don't think he was smiling in any of them. Doesn't seem to have been the accepted style in those days - even in family groups, the father figure is likely to be glowering in heroic manner.
