Two more new French regiments for the WSS, freshly based and flagged, and very nicely painted by Lee (thank you, sir). These are the regiments Mestre de Camp Général (red flag, yellow shabraques) and La Baume (green flag, green shabraques). As ever, castings are Les Higgins/PMD 20mm, though the command groups are Irregular on Higgins horses.
Nice. The Irregular Miniatures fit in very nicely.
ReplyDeleteHi Matt - thanks - apart from Irregular, there is not much at all that fits in with Les Higgins' interpretation of 20mm (which varies a bit between ranges, but for the Malburians works out at about 1/76). I avoid scale mismatches by mounting the Irregular men on Higgins/PMD horses, but I am hoping to use up some spare Irregular horses (which are smaller) by using them for my French dragoons; I understand that dragoon horses were around 12 hands high, whereas the normal cavalry were mounted on 17 hands average.
DeleteBring 'em on!
ReplyDeleteHi Jon - still battling along! - still need to do some catch-up on French and British generals, but the original (Spring 2000) plan for Phase 1 of my WSS project is definitely nearing completion. I hope to have an actual battle with some of them in a few weeks!
DeleteI hope to see your armies in battle too!
DeleteHave you entrusted Lee with the famous “house green” for those bases or did you do them yourself?
ReplyDeleteNay lad - I do my own basing. Have now agreed with Lee that he just leaves the bases as undercoat, and I'll finish them. The Organisation and Methods people have given me their Gold Star award for April.
DeleteI now have a nice fresh pot of the "house green" on the go, since the previous one turned into chewing gum. Come to think of it, I also have a quart-sized tin as well, unopened, which I bought in for repainting tabletop battleboards - maybe I should check if it's in good health. I know, I could do some battleboard and sabot painting - I miss the therapy of using a 3-inch brush...
They look splendid!
ReplyDeleteThank you sir! They've been checked over and approved by the Shiny Police.
DeleteAlways great to see them based and flagged, it's sets them off nicely Tony. Just about to post a couple of close ups on my blog, must admit I was very pleased with these myself!
ReplyDeleteThey came out really well - very pleased with them. Because one of the lamps over my painting desk has blown, I took my photo with flash, which always makes the colours look less natural, and pales the flags (since the paper shines through!). I must remember to avoid doing this!
DeleteVery pretty and shiny toys indeed…
ReplyDeleteLee has certainly done a fine job…
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly - I am, I admit it, spoiled.
DeleteHmmm my comment from yesterday appears to have got lost in the ether ! Very nice Tony, Lee does a damn fine job and irregular minis fit well, it’s a great collection you have
ReplyDeleteHi Graham - thank you - didn't see your previous comment - Blogger has been playing silly beggars again - I am now allowed to reply to comments again, but the format has changed. I bet it was An Upgrade. The WSS armies are getting there - I am pleased with progress, and will attempt some decent group photos soon. It's almost certainly the wrong thing to say, but the lockdown has rather pushed me to focus on my hobbies; my collection of pieces of gravel for sieges is also looking good.
