Really on a hot streak now. Having been pleased with the three British battalions I finished off last week, here comes a unit painted by Count F Goya, which puts everything back into perspective. These chaps are Archibald Rowe's Regt, or the [Royal] Scottish Fusiliers by any other name.
Again, figures are all Les Higgins/PMD 20mm (1/76), apart from the colonel, who is an Irregular chap (?) on a Higgins horse (that's how we do things around here).
Thanks again, Goya, the boys are raring to go.
Splendid fellows Tony...
ReplyDeleteAll the best. Aly
Excellent looking regiment!
ReplyDeleteLes Higgins always were nice tidy sculpts. I am not big on the nostalgia for average quality sixties and seventies figures, but Les Higgins are a cut above in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteLovely unit, very well painted. I'm a fan of those sculpts as you know, something abut them just makes me smile. I like what Goya has done with the lace on the front of the open coats. I also like the composition of the figures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice looking unit - well done Goya!
ReplyDeleteSuper. Love the officers particularly.
ReplyDeleteThanks you all for dignified applause, gentlemen. I must also give credit to Goya for uniform consultancy - I have found the British army of this period to be quite hard to research - apart from the Foot Guards, naturally! Goya has come up with all sorts of obscure regulations and regimental accounts, plus quotes from WY Carman and other antique books! Much appreciated, anyway.
ReplyDeleteExamples of obscure features of this unit included whether they all wore the grenadier-style cap (our answer was yes - apart from the officers) and whether they had a grenadier company (again, our answer was yes).
Another great addition, Sir!
