It was a bit of a disappointment. Not nearly half as good as yours. They are coming along nicely. Since this army is a complete indulgence, it is is necessary that the whole thing should be a bit over-the-top - otherwise why bother? : ) MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-70235419115306386292017-01-17T09:40:27.316+00:002017-01-17T09:40:27.316+00:00That's a most impressive looking army Tony, an...That's a most impressive looking army Tony, and I really like the neatness of the basing system. They were Provincial Militia - not great soldiers, but usually better than the units of Urban Militia, who were the worst of the lot. They disappeared when the French gradually took charge of almost the whole country - if you are going to organise and recruit a militia unit for a province, you have to still have a province to raise them in. Interesting that during the brief period following Los Arapiles, when the French evacuated the capital, militia-type units suddenly were raised in Madrid, which lasted only until Wellington retreated back to Portugal and the French returned. Some of the Provincial Grenadier units were pretty good.MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-78239875036563881422017-01-16T21:31:38.254+00:002017-01-16T21:31:38.254+00:00Thanks Chris - I'm glad you like them. Thanks Chris - I'm glad you like them.MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-53806767764527296022017-01-16T21:30:32.073+00:002017-01-16T21:30:32.073+00:00Thanks Jon - I am pleased with them. Of course they can't fight - well, they can, as long as they have a big load of extra troops and are not required to manoeuvre much. They are pretty though, which is the main thing.MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-32998324693401111272017-01-16T21:27:08.646+00:002017-01-16T21:27:08.646+00:00First painted figures for this army were April 201...First painted figures for this army were April 2014 - check out

http://prometheusinaspic.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/regimiento-de-africa.html#comment-form

I really need to get on with the cavalry very soon - I need to take my confidence pills.MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-16677911812432835612017-01-16T19:48:08.794+00:002017-01-16T19:48:08.794+00:00Marvellous, blooming marvellous.
