At the end of the lecture he was asked what happened before the Big Bang. The learned man shrugged and said that was a question best left to theologians. I am sort of a theologian and so my answer might be deemed predictable, so I will confine myself to Shakespeare and say that there is more in heaven and in earth than is dreamt of in our philosophy. And now I'll go lie down and rest my brain.
Mad Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00410143683610813671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-3659881131997094082013-02-02T23:23:55.979+00:002013-02-02T23:23:55.979+00:00Erm - right.Erm - right.MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-33934137631320238592013-02-02T22:55:11.612+00:002013-02-02T22:55:11.612+00:00About the stars. Where each speck came from and how long it has been travelling is interesting but incidental. The week before Xmas the postman delivers a lot of mail through your door on, say, Tuesday. Some of this mail will have been posted First Class within the UK, a day or so before, some of it is second class which has been in the mail for a few days, and theres the card from Aunt Elsie in New Zealand, and she posted that a week ago or more. Theres even an economy delivery from eBay, and goodness knows when that was posted.

None of that matters. It is today's post, deal with it. There are few things more pleasurable than pondering the imponderable when (a) my deductions have no consequence and carry no weight, and (b) I am not burdened by even the faintest idea of what I'm talking about.

I occasionally receive comments which read like an attempt to sum up what it was the contributor thinks I was trying to say - I haven't had any for a few months now, but it happens, and I always have a smile at this. I am grateful when it happens - quite touched.

This blog is - without apology - just a lot of self-indulgent nonsense - that's why it's here, that's why I enjoy it. If I ever got the hang of tying together these tangential thoughts and unconvincing connections in a properly structured, referenced manner then I would be a philosopher instead of an idiot, and I would write the results in something more useful than a hobby blog!

As it is - what you see is what you get - I'm delighted that so many fine chaps enter so nicely into the spirit of what is, after all, just hooptedoodle!

Cheers - TonyMSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-87622955173381878992013-02-02T21:09:39.616+00:002013-02-02T21:09:39.616+00:00Gary - I try to avoid coming to this conclusion, b...Gary - I try to avoid coming to this conclusion, but I suspect that I have spent much of my time since university contemplating how interesting it would have been if I'd only paid more attention while I was there.

Cheers - TonyMSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-14429190014394703482013-02-02T15:31:26.913+00:002013-02-02T15:31:26.913+00:00What a great read Tony, love the way you developed...What a great read Tony, love the way you developed the 'Waverly' story, something about this post and the replies reminds me strongly of a bunch of acid heads having a 'serious' discussion after a session in the old days! The rainbow requires a sighted human, someone who can see and recognise a rainbow to be present along with the other conditions.

I am allergic to oil-seed rape. If I drive past a field of it at the wrong time of year on a day without rain I wil have to stop the car because of a sneezing fit. It happens all the time. It doesnt affect everyone and nothing else does this to me. I am part of this phenomenon. If I am not present there will be no sneezing, though all the other criteria are met.

LouCec Rhodeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17313215648551374718noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111053985478999734.post-48669463278560596222013-02-01T17:32:06.886+00:002013-02-01T17:32:06.886+00:00A very interesting post!
